Active Membership
- Licensed to sell insurance
- Sponsored by a member
- In good standing with NAIFA (pays dues within
60 days of due date)
Associate Membership
- Staff or professionals in related fields but having no life
insurance license
- Sponsored by a member
- Entitled to all privileges of the Association, except those
of voting and holding office
- Will be a member of the local Association only, not the State
or National Association
Active Members Emeritus
- Must be a member for 20 or more years
- 65 years of age or older
- No longer engaged in the solicitation of new life insurance
business
- No reduction in national or state dues
- Local dues can be reduced at the discretion of the local association
- Member is reported to NAIFA as an Emeritus and in the future
will receive dues statements reflecting that status
Lapsed Membership
- After sixty days of non-payment, membership is lapsed
- Benefits and services from NAIFA are stopped
- Reinstatement takes full payment of dues and retention of
original anniversary date is kept
- Lapses for more than a year get a new anniversary date when
dues are paid
Honorary Members
- According to NAIFA, an honorary member is any person who has
performed some distinguished service in the field of life insurance
or community, and who is not an active or associate member of
the local association
- Elected for a period of one year and then may be re-elected
from year to year
- Not reported to NAIFA and does not count toward membership
campaign totals
Disabled Member
- Requires yearly documentation to NAIFA of disability from
the local board of directors stating that individual is totally
disabled
- National dues waived
- Must be a member of a local association for 20 or more years
- Must be totally disabled
- Disabled members are included in local association membership
campaign totals
- Renewal forms reflect disabled status each year
